Live a little at Little National Hotel
The Little National Hotel Newcastle, which opened its doors in April 2024, is the seventh Australian property to open under the DOMA Hotel portfolio (the third Little National so far) and aims to offer a first class experience with a difference.
Conveniently situated on Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle’s waterfront entertainment area, the hotel is located just a short five-minute drive from popular restaurant destination, Darby Street and a four-minute walk to the Transport Interchange. The prime location encourages guests to explore and enjoy the city’s best as Newcastle continues to grow as a destination of choice.
“We’re thrilled to have brought the Little National Hotel to Newcastle. With the substantial development of the Honeysuckle Precinct over recent years, we saw this as a great opportunity to provide guests with the ability to explore Newcastle’s newest entertainment area,” said DOMA Managing Director, Jure Domazet. “Our approach has always been to provide guests with a convenient, modern contemporary hotel experience, without the cost of 5-star accommodation.”
One of the key differences that sets this hotel apart from others is the size of its rooms – and it’s surprisingly not for the reason you’d think. The 181 rooms, of which 169 of them come in at just 18 square meters, feature super king-sized beds that take up the entire width of the room. But thanks to clever spatial planning, sleek minimalist design, soft furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows, the space doesn’t feel too cramped. Guests wanting longer stays or a little more space to spread out can opt for one of the 12 apartment-style rooms.
A new hotel has opened doors in the heart of Honeysuckle, with a modern take on accommodation and guest services, best described through their ethos – ‘Everything you need and nothing you don’t.’
The ‘everything you need and nothing you don’t’ approach extends to all corners of the hotel, with do-it-yourself style check-in kiosks, the Lounge – offering light meals and a place to meet, drink and connect and The Library – featuring work spaces, meeting pods and two fully-equipped boardrooms. Rooms are fitted with St Ali coffee pod machines and complimentary coffee is also available to guests in the Library. The Wellness Centre provides guests with access to a modern gym, which can be used in conjunction with the hotel’s own fitness app.
Where possible, the hotel aims to partner with and support local businesses and brands, including gin from Earp Distillery, wines from local wineries such as Bimbadgen, Brockenwood, Margen Estate and Vinden Estate, sourdough from Uprising and a catering partnership with Sea Salt and Sage.
It’s the little details that make a stay at Little National unforgettable. While there may not be a complete in-house restaurant, each room is provided with a ‘Little List’ – highlighting local restaurants and attractions that are all within an arm’s reach.
Staff are also more than happy to provide tailored suggestions and insider knowledge, or guests are encouraged to utilise local food delivery services, with staff on hand to deliver it to your door.
This hotel doesn’t claim to be anything that it’s not, but the attention to detail and clever use of space and design make for a luxurious stay at a much more budget-friendly price. Whether you have colleagues or friends heading to town, or want to spend a weekend in the city on a stay-cation, put the Little National Hotel on your list and make the most of all Newcastle’s CBD has to offer.
