Maitland Road runs through the centre of Mayfield, and is a busy hub of shops and other essential services. A number of popular cafes have opened, including Equium Social, Side Pocket Espresso and Onyx. The popular watering holes include the Stag and Hunter Hotel and The Beauford. Both local public schools – Mayfield East and West – are ranked highly, as well as St Columban’s Primary and San Clemente High School.

Some recent record-breaking sales have drawn the median house price up to $822,000 and the median unit price to $810,000, both in Mayfield. The best return on investment for houses is found in the neighbouring suburb of Hexham at 6.5%, while units in Mayfield East can expect to return around 4.9%.
