Northern Suburbs

The Northern Suburbs encompasses the suburbs in and around the northern coastline of Newcastle including Stockton, Fern Bay, Fullerton Cove and Williamtown.

Stockton in particular has continued to grow in recent years, as it offers the close-knit community vibe similar to a small beachy town, while being situated just a five minute ferry ride across from the Newcastle CBD.

Neighbouring Stockton, are the growing suburbs of Fern Bay and Fullerton Cove.

Fern Bay is a small coastal enclave and has a newer housing estate popular among young families, downsizers and investors (as it offers high rental yields). The homes are large and modern and many buyers are attracted to the quiet lifestyle Fern Bay Seaside Estate offers, with its numerous parks and easy access to Fern Bay Public School.

Fullerton Cove has had a steady population growth of over-50s residents, with The Cove Village now complete and construction underway at the new Ingenia Lifestyle Village – ‘Element’. The Cove Village has enjoyed significant growth in recent years, with buyers moving to the area from Sydney and interstate.

The community enjoys the benefit of resortstyle facilities, which are completely owned by all within the estate. The ability to own your house and land within these villages is attractive, as it offers security for the future and no exit fees.

Stockton’s town centre is just a short drive from both Fern Bay and Fullerton Cove, where residents can take a five-minute ferry ride to the Newcastle CBD. Newcastle Airport is also a mere 10-minute drive away and Stockton Beach and sand dunes are at the doorstep.

Fern Bay and Fullerton Cove are at the gateway to beautiful Port Stephens, while also being a convenient 15 – 20 minute drive to Newcastle. Population growth in Fullerton Cove and Fern Bay has exploded in recent years, and now a parcel of land at 42 Fullerton Cove Road has been rezoned, with a DA currently lodged with Port Stephens Council for a supermarket and specialty shops.
